About
Jodi McCord is an artist based between Melbourne and Sydney, working primarily in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, paper and linen. Driven by a passion for colour, contrast and emotional expression, her practice centres on abstract compositions with a strong focus on colour harmony and pattern.
McCord's creative roots trace back to her family’s fashion jewellery business, where she developed a love of jewel tones, repetition and design. Her studies have included interior design at The Whitehouse Institute and painting via the National Art School in Sydney.
Her highly individual visual concepts begin with pencil sketches or collage, drawing inspiration from textiles, magazine imagery, the natural world and coastal landscapes, a reflection of her home base in Cronulla, NSW. Her artistic practice remains central to her life, and she continues to evolve her work through self-directed exploration and ongoing experimentation. Always seeking harmony, energy and feeling in her practice McCord finds her creative flow in the studio, often in the company of her Mini Dachshund, Dash, and Dalmatian, Tommy.
